My boy is super creative and loves any kind of arts and crafts. I let him go, we’ll do tin foil art, I’ve got rolls of butcher paper for him to paint and draw on, and we go through reams of printer paper weekly. Thing is, I’m a terrible artist and I’m not crafty at all. I love seeing him happily coloring away but when he invites me to color with him, I do it, of course, but it’s not my thing.
So I invited him to help me cook, so we could do something creative together that hopefully, we’ll both enjoy. I told him he could invent a recipe, anything he wanted, and I’d buy the stuff and we’d make it together. We spent about an hour writing out the recipe and discussing what works and what doesn’t. We decided to focus on the entree, and have simple sides this first time. (continued: “The boy creates…”)
