Dos Equis has always tried to bridge tradition and the modern world. That’s been our goal since the Montezuma Brewery was founded in 1884. Thirteen years later a beer named Sigle XX (20th Century) was created to celebrate the upcoming century. With the start of the new century, the beer was renamed to “Dos Equis” (literally “Two X’s”).
Only the finest beer for our attendees—Enjoy happy hour!
One scorching Austin, TX summer day back in 2009, University of Texas student Daniel Goetz needed something refreshing. Daniel couldn’t think of any options other than the Austin summertime staple, the sno-cone. At the sno-cone stand, Daniel asked the infamous question, “What’s in that syrup?” The employee responded with a shoulder shrug.
Craving a more wholesome, delicious treat, Daniel searched out places who carried traditional Mexican-style paletas naturales or natural frozen fruit bars. What Daniel found put him in a similar predicament: artificial flavoring, coloring and ingredients he couldn’t even pronounce.
Daniel loves Austin and thought they deserved better. Two months later, GoodPop All-Natural Frozen Pops hit the market…well, the farmers market. It wasn’t long before his GoodPops became a hit at 4 Austin markets; which are some of the most discerning farmers markets in the country.
People had always told Seth Goldman, co-founder of Honest Tea, that he drank a lot of liquids. An active person, Seth Goldman was continually in search of the perfect drink to quench his thirst after a run, a game of basketball or between grad school classes. Yet, Seth found most drinks either too sweet or too tasteless.
Barry Nalebuff, one of Seth’s business school professors, found that he and Seth shared a passion for the idea of a less sweet, but flavorful beverage during a class discussion that involved a Coke vs. Pepsi case study. They agreed that there were tons of sugary sweet options and lots of new waters, but there was nothing in between to fill the void.
That was 13 years ago. Today, Honest Tea can be found in glass bottles, plastic bottles, barely sweetened, or even ‘a tad sweet’ in tens of thousands of stores across the US. The company has applied its passion for social responsibility to initiatives in the environment and to creating partnerships with the growers, cultures, and communities behind the teas.

Tito’s Handmade Vodka is produced in Austin at Texas’ first and oldest legal distillery. It’s made in small batches in an old fashioned pot still by Tito Beveridge (actual name), a 40-something Geologist, and distilled six times.
Tito’s Handmade Vodka is designed to be savored by spirit connoisseurs and everyday drinkers alike. It is microdistilled in an old-fashioned pot still, just like fine single malt scotches and high-end French cognacs. This time-honored method of distillation requires more skill and effort than modern column stills, but it’s well worth it.
Waialua Soda Works, Inc. brings back the “experience” of drinking soda by using natural, high quality ingredients to create a refreshing and lightly carbonated gourmet soda. Down to the glass bottle, Waialua Soda Works is a source for the nostalgic soda connoisseur, and those who prefer to savor a purer beverage.
Wow! What a ride. Back in 1980, we started out with one small store in Austin, Texas. Today, we’re the world’s leader in natural and organic foods, with more than 300 stores in North America and the United Kingdom. What a long, strange trip it’s been. We still honor our original ideals, and we think that has a lot to do with our success.
