I love Blogathon. Every time it comes around, all I can think of is how much fun I’m going to have and yet how much I’ve learned over the years. As a matter of fact, without Blogathon, I doubt I’d still be doing Lonely Gourmet.
I missed out on the first Blogathon, for various reasons, but I knew I wanted to go. When the time came for the second, I convinced my sister-in-law from Michigan to join me; she had never written anything online before and only had a glancing knowledge of social media. We weren’t sure what we would find, but were excited nonetheless.
When we got to Blogathon, it immediately was a feast for the senses. So many computers, bloggers, Twitter friends I had never met in real life, food and talking – lots and lots of talking.
Jen and I knew we were home when so many people were talking about the same things we were – How can we manage our time better? What makes a good blog? How do I draw more people to my site? There were even techies to help with any questions we had. Especially, we were just impressed that there was a guy in a kilt … little did I know that a few years later, he would be my boss 😉
All the things I learned at that first Blogathon, I’ve been able to put into practice and it really has made me a better writer. And every time I attend a Blogathon, I learn more and more, meet more and more fun, friendly people with the same goals and mindset, and just have a blast.
Haven’t come to Blogathon before? Don’t be afraid! We don’t bite and we may even feed you!
Editor’s note: Lonely Gourmet will be sponsoring lunch at #BlogathonATX on April 28th.
