Every year since the dawn of time….. I mean, Blogathon…… I’ve been in attendance. I’ve made new friends, I’ve eaten snacks, I’ve worked the registration table, and I’ve even done some speaking. Since the event began, a lot has changed in my life. I started my own business in addition to my personal blog, I’ve gotten married, I’ve moved, I’ve quit drinking…… all kinds of changes. But through it all, I kept coming to Blogathan. Why?
I tell people it’s the good food and the good company. It’s like a reunion every year, and I get to see old friends, and lots of people that I love. We’re busy adulting most of the time, and we don’t always get to put our lives aside to hang out. Blogathon is like an awesome one-day adult summer camp!
But what really brings me back every year is the totally unique energy that fills the rooms at Blogathon. Everyone there is insanely passionate about SOMETHING. They are there to devote an entire day to the pursuit something they love. It’s exciting and invigorating; it’s a feeling I draw on when I am completely drained in my work and my writing. And it’s not something I get anywhere else.
I started out writing a fashion blog like eight years ago. I still write that blog, and it’s grown in so many ways. I’ve also started my own social media marketing business and blog, which I never thought I’d be able to do. But I did. And I did it with the support and inspiration from the people I met and the lessons I learned at Blogathon. The people at Blogathon, the exchange of ideas, the buzz of drive and creativity pushes me to take my work to the next level. And I am so profoundly grateful for it.
Every year, I look forward to feeling that energy again. I eagerly anticipate the new things I will learn, the laughs I’ll share with old friends, and the excitement of meeting new friends. I can’t wait to see y’all in January!
