The first #BlogathonATX—organized on-the-fly by friends and volunteers—was held just one month after a simple tweet went out to Austin’s blogging community in August of 2010. Entrepreneurs and personal bloggers came together to work, learn, collaborate (and eat) alongside friends and fellow professionals at the all-day event.
In addition to the impromptu discussions and collaborations, the event included roundtable discussions that were led by experts on everything from content development to time management and were standing room only. Some of Austin’s smartest specialists volunteered their time in the Tech Room, where people came to have their technology-related questions answered. The place was hoppin’!
Sponsors showed up; the press showed up; bloggers showed up—and magic happened, as we came together for a heady day of eating, writing, talking and more eating. We clearly filled a need and vowed to make sure #BlogathonATX happened again.
“It all started as a ‘random’ tweet about spending a day blogging. From there, #BlogathonATX has exploded onto the Austin social media scene and is now being sponsored by Mashable, Treaty Oaks Rum and Torchy’s Tacos—just to name a few.”
