Participants in this roundtable will learn the importance of ridding their blogs and other copy of jargon and extraneous information so that it’s a pleasure to read and can be understood by a general audience. The more complex the information, the greater the need to take the reader by the hand and simplify the writing. This respects the reader while giving the writer a chance to broaden his or her audience. Markman and Roser will provide tips and ideas for engaging all kinds of readers, such as finding the right story to illustrate an idea and using analogies to explain complex concepts.

In the first hour, author Jackie Dana will lead a guided exercise that will help participants determine what they need to do to have a writing career, imagining all of the elements we can. During the second hour, participants will spend the remaining time in a discussion about different writing careers and what they need to do to
